GENERAL INFORMATION
The conference that takes place regularly since 1997 in two-year periods was traditionally devoted to three topical blocks: theoretical problems of measurement, measurement in biomedicine and measurement of physical quantities. The subjects of individual contributions were related to several areas of measurement science from the definitions of the main units, through solutions of theoretical metrological problems and estimation of measurement uncertainties, design of new measuring methods for biology and medicine, mechanical, electrical and power engineering, up to solutions of specific measuring systems for applications in the mentioned areas.
Also during this conference the „Young Investigator Award“ competition of young scientists took place to select the best oral and poster presentation. The aim of the competition was to promote active participation and publications of young researchers in measurement science. This time the share of young conference participants was quite high and 18 contributions participated in the competition. They were evaluated by seven members of an international jury. The winners were also offered to publish their contributions in extended form in the impacted web-based open access journal Measurement Science Review published by de Gruyter. The winner in category of oral presentations was A. Krafčík from Slovakia; the best poster was presented by M. Bujalski from Poland. Printed conference proceedings were presented to all participants during the conference. Selected extended papers will be published after successful review in the journal Measurement Science Review. Electronic version of the proceedings is available on the conference web page, where you can find also the photos taken during the event. Besides the scientific program, the conference enabled the participants to make the acquaintance of some fragments of the Slovak history, nature and culture during the excursion to the Red Stone castle or during the walks in the Smolenice surroundings. The social program of the conference was enriched by the productions of the music group Ragan trio and the folk music ensemble Wimmer brothers. The pleasurable surroundings in the Smolenice castle created a good working atmosphere for 78 registered participants and more than 20 guests from 12 countries and contributed to birth of new working contacts and collaborations.
